Returns Policy

We take great pride in our products and hope you are satisfied with your purchase from New Media Technology.

Our products go through a stringent quality check before shipping to ensure the best quality and your full satisfaction.

Our products are subject to a Limited Warranty Policy. All products supplied by New Media Technology are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship.

This warrants each product supplied by New Media Technology, subject to the Limited Warranty Policy

Where products are deemed to be defective in materials or manufacture, these products will be eligible for returns as provided for in this Returns policy.

Below are the guidelines in respect of our Returns Policy.

  1. Can a Customer return Items purchased?
  • All sales are final. Items cannot be returned or exchanged under any circumstances.
  • New Media Technology does not accept returns or exchanges, except where the items are assessed to be defective and are still in original condition.
  • Where New Media Technology accepts a return by written confirmation to accept the return, the following will apply;
    • Returns accepted are for online store credit or replacement item, and exclude shipping costs and surcharges.
    • The items must be new or in an unused condition with original packing/box and tags intact.
    • Only upon New Media Technology’s satisfaction of the evaluation of the return will the store credit or replacement item be processed.
  • To accept returns or an exchange in any situation even if deemed to be defective items, is at the sole discretion of New Media Technology.

 

  1. What if the Customer receive items that are defective?
  • If a Customer has a complaint about an item or thinks that it might be defective or is faulty, the Customer is required to send an email notice to info@nm-tech.co.za within 3 days from the receipt date/delivery date of the items.
  • Pictures of the defective items must be attached to the email showing the fault or damaged part and New Media Technology will conduct an assessment process on the email.
  • Only upon written confirmation by New Media Technology to accept the return, must the defective items be returned within 3 days after New Media Technology’s email confirmation to accept the return.
  • Once New Media Technology confirms that the items are eligible for a return, The customer must arrange a delivery from the Customer’s location to New Media Technology.
  • Upon receipt of the defective items by New Media Technology, it will be submitted for evaluation and testing.
  • If the items are evaluated to have a manufacturing defect by our product experts and technical team, a store credit will be issued, subject to New Media Technology’s satisfaction of the return.
  • If the items do not qualify as a manufacturing defect, or proven not to be faulty, the items will be returned back to the Customer, delivery costs of which will be for the Customer’s account.
  • Returns in respect of defective items will be rejected if;
    • Items are not in original condition.
    • Items are due to misuse or showing any signs of wear and tear, even if they are still under warranty period.
    • Items that have been assembled, used, altered or installed.
  • Should New Media Technology establish upon receipt of the return that the items are actually not defective or is not in the original condition and packaging, New Media Technology reserves the right to reject the return and send the items back to the Customer.

 

  1. How quickly can the Customer return defective items?
  • The Customer is required to send an email notice to return defective items to info@nm-tech.co.za within 3 days from the receipt date of the items and pictures of the defective items must be attached to the email.
  • Only upon written confirmation by New Media Technology to accept the return, must the defective items be returned within 3 days after New Media Technology’s email confirmation to accept the return.

 

  1. Who is responsible for the delivery costs to return defective items?
  • In the event the return is unaccepted by New Media Technology after evaluation, the Customer will be responsible for all delivery costs.
  • Where a store credit or replacement item is successfully processed, New Media Technology will bear the delivery cost to return the defective items and send the replacement item.

 

  1. How does the store credit work?
  • Once the defective items have been returned and after evaluation is eligible for a store credit, New Media Technology will issue a store credit which the Customer can use to order a replacement item or use on the next purchase.
  • Store credits are valid for 6 months only.
  • Store credits are non-exchangeable for cash.

 

  1. How long does it take for the whole return process to be completed?
  • New Media Technology must receive the defective items within 3 days after confirmation to accept the return (Gauteng Only).
  • The evaluation usually takes 3 - 5 days depending on the item type and manufacturer process. In certain cases up to 14 working days
  • After evaluation of the defective items, the delivery of the replacement item takes 5-7 working days from the time the Customer submits an order for the replacement item and apply the store credit online.
  • Returns in respect of defective items are applicable only in the Republic of South Africa, and New Media Technology is unable to accept any returns from outside of South Africa.

Mobile Inverters (Plug & Play) carry a standard 12 month manufacturer warranty.

Warranty on Solar Inverters & Equipment:

All inverters must be installed by a qualified electrical installer or Master electrician with a valid registration with the Department of Labour.
A valid electrical certificate of compliance (Coc) must be issued once installed, specific to the installation of the backup or solar system.
The installation must be compliant with SANS 10142 and ALL its parts.
Any warranty claim submitted without installation photos, a valid Coc and proof of a qualified wireman/master electrician installing the unit, can be rejected and will render the warranty claim null at void.

The warranty does not cover damage resulting from:

  • Power surge
  • Under-voltage
  • Over-voltage
  • Lightning
  • Corrosion
  • Sea spray
  • Condensation
  • Water damage
  • Dust or any solid particles
  • Sand
  • Insects
  • Lizards
  • Excessive heat exposure
  • Weather damage
  • Negligence by the installer or homeowner
  • Incorrect installation
  • Inadequate protection device rating
  • Tampering (broken seal)
  • Dirty filters
  • Exceeding the maximum power rating, current or voltage for the input solar circuit, DC battery input, AC input and AC output.


The warranty will be void if the unit is:

  • Not installed as per manufacturers specifications
  • Not installed with a minimal 40kA surge protection unit for both live and neutral wires from the AC incoming supply
  • Not installed with a minimal 40kA surge protection unit for both positive and negative wires from the AC incoming supply
  • Not protected by the calculated and required 2 pole breakers for the input and output of the inverter
  • Not installed with a changeover switch
  • The battery input must be protected by a rated fuse for both the negative and positive connections, within the calculated PSCC ratings.
  • Tampered with (attempted to open the unit)
  • Visible damage to the unit
